The button in the ear. The guarantee of the finest. Since 1880.
Margarete Steiff made her first felt elephant in a small workshop in Giengen, Germany, and in doing so accidentally invented an entirely new category of object: the soft toy as heirloom. Her nephew Richard added the iconic brass button to the ear in 1904 — a mark of authenticity that has become one of the most recognised quality symbols in the world. More than a century later, every Steiff piece still carries it. Because some things are worth doing exactly as they have always been done.
Steiff is not simply a toy brand. It is a tradition of craftsmanship so consistent and so uncompromising that their pieces routinely outlast the childhoods they were made for — passed from generation to generation, kept in glass cabinets, brought out on special occasions, loved in the particular way that only truly well-made things ever are. Their teddy bears, animals and character figures are produced to standards that have not wavered since the nineteenth century, and it shows in every seam, every detail, every button.
Our Steiff collection at Olleke brings together a carefully chosen selection of their finest pieces — classic bears, character editions and limited releases that make genuinely exceptional gifts for new arrivals, milestone birthdays, devoted collectors and anyone who understands the difference between a toy that lasts a season and one that lasts a lifetime.
For the ones worth giving something that will still be here long after the wrapping paper is gone.
