Ninety-six years old. Still the most recognisable silhouette on earth. Still wearing the same red shorts. Absolutely no plans to retire.
Mickey Mouse made his first sound appearance on 18 November 1928 in Steamboat Willie — a short film that announced both the character and the arrival of synchronised sound in animation simultaneously, which is quite an entrance for a mouse from Walt Disney's imagination. What began as an animated mascot became, over the following century, something without precedent: a character so universally recognised that his ears alone, in silhouette, require no further identification anywhere in the world. Mickey is not simply Disney's first character. He is Disney's icon, its symbol, its ambassador and its heartbeat — the small figure at the centre of an empire who has somehow never been diminished by the scale of what grew up around him.
Mickey has been cheerful, mischievous, brave, resourceful and occasionally exasperated across thousands of films, shorts, television series, theme park appearances and pieces of merchandise spanning nearly a century. He has worn a sorcerer's hat, conducted orchestras, gone to space, celebrated every Christmas and been present at the opening of every Disney park ever built. He is, in the most complete sense of the word, everywhere — and has managed, all the while, to remain genuinely charming about it.
Our Mickey Mouse collection brings together officially licensed figures, apparel, accessories, homeware and gifts celebrating the original Disney icon across every era of his extraordinary story — from vintage-style collector's pieces and Funko Pops to mugs, jewellery, bags and keepsakes for fans of every age.
Oh boy. Where else would you start?
